A Historic Election

Its historic not only because of the candidate but the process. We who play on this site , not so many anymore , argued vehemently ,passionately about our politics here. This election was a culmination of that national discussion. A referendum on deregulation(AIG just got another 40 billion of our money)The miracle is in the orderly transition. The recognition by men and women of good faith , differing beliefs that we all regardless of our political persuasion support the process. My self being raised in west Texas /New Mexico who when I would go to to Eastland to visit my grampaw at 5 and a little older , the town still had separate drinking fountains , what a sea change in my life time . I spent election night at the Driscol hotel ,down town Austin the Dems official party . My favorite moments were seeing the emotions on the older black voters when the results actually sank in , such a joyous moment for them , I felt blessed to share it . My personal non tear jerker best moment was two men witnessed from the balcony we were drinking at running down 6th st. carrying a 15 'or so banner with two words on it "Mission Accomplished". Whichever side you supported , the renewing joy of a functioning democracy . John Mccain gave the best speech of his campaign in his concession speech. His service to country is not to be denied but honored. As for Ms Palin , I will let you witness the various reports and decide for your self . My personal sense is Mr. Mccain's campaign was not well served by her presence, but I leave it to the pundits . P.S. Can I be the next ambassador to Mexico , I have actually been there though its not visible from My porch .
