If you have heard in the news at all there a 100 and some university leaders that have signed the Amethyst Initiative. This encourages debate on the drinking age and to lower it from 21 to 18.

Some universities are stating that students are better off armed with information about the damaging effects of underage binge drinking, instead of letting them drink at the age of 18. The infamous Mothers Against Drunk Driving says lowering the drinking age would lead to more fatal crashes.

It will be intersting to see how many universities sign up for this Amethyst Initiative in the coming months and to see if anything comes out of it.
