21st Century Easter Egg Hunt Uses GPS Technology

CBS) ELKTON, Md. An old tradition meets cutting-edge technology.

Stacy Hindt at Cody Hollow Farm near Elkton, Md., which is in the northeast corner of the state, will invite area children to enjoy an Easter egg hunt Saturday on her 23-acre farm.

But they'll be using global positioning satellite technology to find each egg. Each treasure hunter will be given map coordinators that will lead them to the vicinity of each candy-filled plastic egg. Then they'll have to look really hard.

Hindt says she'll have a few GPS units that people can borrow, or families can bring their own units.

Hindt's own children, 8-year-old Katie and 3-year-old Brandon are veterans at geocacheing, which is treasure-hunting using map coordinates.

how much fun can that be?

find every single one? then there wont be the stench of finding it with the lawnmower later on and having it splatter on ya. or have the dog find it months later and puke on the brand new carpet.
