After one old boar after another kept turning their snouts up at her, Wilma the Pig had a makeover -- and it turned her into a star.

She found a mate, had eight piglets and made a guest appearance on a television chat show in the UK hosted by Sharon Osbourne, the wife of rock star Ozzy.

The Vietnamese pot-bellied pig had been rejected for months by several suitors until the owners of Twin Lakes Leisure Park in the central English county of Leicestershire sprang to the rescue.

Wilma was given a massage in pig oil, a body scrub and a "trotticure." Speakers piped Barry White "lurv" songs into her sty.

It worked wonders. Within days Ben The Boar was smitten and, after a whirlwind courtship, Wilma became pregnant.

Now Ben and Wilma are the proud parents of eight piglets -- six girls and two boys -- and their story became big news in Britain where people are often mocked abroad for appearing to care more for their pets than they do for their children.

"The English are nuts about animals. That's why Sharon wanted us on her show," said park manager Sandy Gyovari.

"Wilma and the piglets all travelled to London to meet her. They had a great time although they were only two weeks old at the time," Gyovari said.

And there were no jokes about what do the grunting and dishevelled piglets have in common with her husband Ozzy, the Black Sabbath frontman whose family became household names after their daily lives were featured in a reality TV show, The Osbournes.

In fact, Sharon Osbourne showered the porcine family with gifts - brushes, body oils and a "pig baby" monitor.

"Since they came back home, their sty has had a makeover amd revamp. It's been decorated with little bunk beds, a bathroom and doors. It's just like Goldilocks and the Three Bears," she said. "They have become major attractions at the Park."
