Sneeze

Received via email from a cousin in the South

They walked in tandem, each of the ninety-two students filing into the already crowded auditorium. With rich maroon gowns flowing and the traditional caps, they looked almost as grown up as they felt.

Dads swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and Moms freely brushed away tears.

This class would not pray during the commencements ----- not by choice but because of a recent court ruling prohibiting it.

The principal and several students were careful to stay within th guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and challenging
speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one asked for blessings on the graduates or their families.

The speeches were nice, but they were routine......until the final speech received a standing ovation.

A solitary student walked proudly to the microphone. He stood still and silent for just a moment, and then, it happened. All 92 students, every single one of them, suddenly SNEEZED!!!!

The student on stage simply looked at the audience and said, "GOD BLESS YOU, each and every one of you!" And he walked off stage...

The audience exploded into applause. The graduating class found a unique way to invoke God's blessing on their future with or without the
court's approval.

Isn't this a wonderful story? Pass it on to all your friends.........and
GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

In God We Trust, United We Stand.
This is a true story, just recently happening at the University of Maryland. It's inspiring.

SNEEZE

ONE SIMPLE WORD AMEN

Eek!

ONE SIMPLE WORD AMEN

Careful! The Politically Correct Police will get you for that...

Way to go, Widow

Can you say,..............."AMEN!!!"

Why would it chap your ass

Why would it chap your ass so bad to hear AMEN after a speech, ok you don't believe in it...ignore it. I ignore the stuff I don't believe in.

Fuckin' A skippy.

We don't

Since when do we worry about them?

We don't. I was just (go figger) being sarcastic. Trying to give Sanura a heads-up. Oh, and provoking others, of course. But you knew that already.

a long list to say

a long list to say amen.

Naah, "amen" is just one word.

more than a few gods, more than a few ideas.

Yup.

none of which make anymore sense than the others.

Dig deeper.

do we ignore them all?

Nope. Close, though.

or all but one?

Ah, there ya go. I knew you'd get it. I had Faith.

want me to ignore all

want me to ignore all religions but one, who chooses which one to ignore?

You do.

and since you want to take that freedom from me AGAIN

No, I want you to HAVE that freedom. You pick. To each his own, ya know.

since you have had 200 years of infiltrating the US government, the next step is a nationalized religion.

Can't see that happening. It had to be 100% Christian several centuries ago, it's not near that high now. They can barely get people their Medicaid, you think they can do something complicated?

because NO ONE who believes in christ can ever accept the fact they might be full of shit.

I accept that I might be full of this, I just don't believe it. It's a personal belief, dude. Don't make it out to be more than that.

the bible could be total bullshit, the bible could be so totally slanted that the truth isnt really out there anymore.

Read it. It makes sense. If you could sum it up in one sentence, it would be "be nice to people." Yeah, people have gotten carried away. But that doesn't make the message bad.

of course my honest opinion, is the bible was written for controllin the masses, plain and simple. not for or from god, or his son or his reincarnated apostle, but to control people.

It doesn't control me. It turned me loose. It's not about what not to do, it's about how to face all of it fearlessly. "Just Do It", in Nike parlance.

you can lead a woodchuck to water, but you cant make him say amen.

Can't keep him from saying amen either.

Anger Management

Damn, dude, you need Jesus. LOL! *hack* *cough* *wheeze* *patooey!*

if it's so personal why does it have to be so publicly thrown around

It doesn't. It also doesn't have to be yanked outta everything either. Two way street. The dude from California who sued the state over the Pledge Of Allegiance wasn't representing his daughter cuz she didn't like the idea, and said so publicly. He was just buffin' his own dick.

you christians have had the run of the country. you christians are the reason why this country is stuck in neutral. you christians are the ones who get stuck on stupid ideas and wont let them go.

You don't? Looks like it from where I'm standing. You say "praise allah" even though we both know you don't mean it, and I let it slide. I say "amen" and you go into an apoplectic seizure. Ain't me not letting go.

of course there are a few good christians, but they are too hard to find anymore, not even worth the effort.

Interesting. So they're good people, just not worthy of your time.

Well said Old Guy

I couldn't have said it better myself Old Guy. Kudos to you. All of this over a simple sneeze hmmmmmmmmmmm It's amazing what sets people off these days. LOL

but .........

you religious people should all be treated the same, not different because u believe in christ

Do you realize how big that quarter would have to be to write all those names on it?

Ok well look at it this way. For as long as I can remember here in America people prayed to "God" Ok I'm talking about waaaaaaaaaaaay back before we had 9 billion religions to chose from with our many different beliefs.

Now think about the English language.... We started out speaking English primarily and now there are so many languages out there that people are speaking in America. Does that mean we have to stop speaking English because we are offending people that speak another language? Why can't we just speak our own damn language and if ya don't understand it and don't wanna learn it don't listen.

Yeah it's a free country and if ya wanna speak Japanese we don't tell you you can't we don't make you speak English. Doesn't mean we know what ta heck your saying but we didn't say you can't speak it. But should we have to stop making our signs and books in English unless we also print each one in every language that is spoken here? Your telling me that that stop sign offends you because it isn't written in greek? You know what the damn sign means just because it isn't written specifically for you doesn't mean it has any less meaning.

So now why should we have to change our religion just because as a free country we have allowed all these other religions to join this country. Ok so it says in God we trust. You get the picture. Just imagine it says allah or whoever else you pray too. If you don't believe in God pretend its a freakin serial number. Like you sit and read a freakin dollar bill anyhow. It's to buy crap. I'm sorry but I don't sit around reading my money. I really don't give a rat's a$$ what it says on it. Did it put that roof over my head? Did it buy my kids shoes? yep I guess it served its purpose.

but ya know I really have no opinion........

I'm sorry but I don't sit

I'm sorry but I don't sit around reading my money. I really don't give a rat's a$$ what it says on it.

LOL! Good point.

Amen is a Christian only term??

It looks to this little yellow guy that the word AMEN is not exclusive to God or Christianity. Two definitions below:

The word is related to "Emunah" in Hebrew, which means faith and/or belief. Adding "Amen" at the end of "...a blessing or a prayer demonstrates a statement of affirmation that the blessing is true and hope that the prayer will be answered." "Amen" is also a near acronym; its four letters stand for the three Hebrew words: "Aiy'l Melech Ne-eman" which mean that God is a true and faithful king. 2
www.religioustolerance.org/gl_a.htm

The word Amen (Tiberian Hebrew אמן ’Āmēn "So be it; truly", Standard Hebrew אמן Amen, Arabic آمين ’Āmīn) is a declaration of affirmation found in the Hebrew Bible and in the Qur'an. It has always been in use within Judaism. It has been generally adopted in Christian worship as a concluding formula for prayers and hymns. In Islam, it is the standard ending to surat al-Fatiha. ...

If it's that important to refer to a "Higher Power" on our money, why not just use "In Our Faith We Trust". Wouldn't that cover all religions and atheists?

"Old Age Is Not For Sissies"

"In Our Faith We Trust"

"In Our Faith We Trust"

You know that would work but would it be worth the cost of printing all that new money for such a lame reason? I think the complaining about the word God on money was just some bored persons excuse to bitch about something. There's always one in the crowd no matter what the issue is. LOL

Wow!

What is so lame about having trust in ones faith??

If you and your faith believe in a God, or the two hundred Higher Powers that Puff posted, surely you trust that faith...or you wouldn't believe it. The atheists also trust their faith that there is no God, Higher Power, afterlife, heaven, hell, Satan, etc., etc.

Trust is a must because you can't verify.

I don't think you need to be bored to complain about someone elses Higher Power showing up on U.S. currency. You need to be aware and concerned.

Suppose it said "In Allah We Trust" on our currency....how would you feel? Would you be a "bored person" and complain about it?

"Old Age Is Not For Sissies"

In Allah We Trust

Well apparently you took that wrong.
What is so lame about having trust in ones faith??

never said that was lame I said it would be lame to reprint the entire nations currency just because of one word.

In Allah We Trust
well if my currency said that then chances are I live in Afghanistan or such. If the settlers came from Afghanistan then it probably would say that but they didnt and it doesnt.

We're all in this together

So it's the settlers from 500 years ago and their Higher Power that get the mention on todays government currency. And todays melting pot society with their various Higher Power beliefs, should just ignore the fact that they and their beliefs are all a very important part of what the USA is all about?

I say change it to "In Our Faith We Trust". New money is printed and coined every day, no big deal to change it. If your gonna make a faith based statement on government property, make it represent our USA of today.

"Old Age Is Not For Sissies"

I say change it to

Ok well instead of changing "In God we trust" to "In our faith we trust" why dont we just remove the line all together and change it to "Someone buy me a beer"

I am still wondering how I got into this conversation cause I really have no opinion LOL

/me zips it fer da duration of this argument.

Yeah, me too!

"Someone buy me a beer"

That's the best change yet!

I think we straightened the government out on this one. If they would just listen to all these IWYA2 suggestions........there woodnt be NO problems!

"Old Age Is Not For Sissies"

That's the best change yet!

I'm glad we could agree on it then LOL

amen

"i seem to remember something.........separation of church and state? could this ring a bell?" Yes, we remember, that is what gives us the right to say amen. "the entire world could care less if you get to say amen or not", then what is your reasoning for the complaints? You don't care but you complain anyway? "they worry about stuff that means something, hunger...murder...social issues, certainly not something that is so individual that even the christians dont get along", people don't get along, that is what is called free will. Do you have to stifle thought and spew hate to express an opinion? The answer is yes I guess you do.

I see you "praise allah", kind of like saying amen. You thus set forth a religion which you must think is not like Christianity. They all get along so well;)

I notice by your photo that you also worship the prairie rat (miss named the prairie dog). See, things in life are deceiving. This is one of the most destructive animals that the misguided animal rights fanatics have embraced. I remember this quote, "What you associate with says volumes about ones character".

"What you associate with says volumes about ones character".

Well I guess I picked my associations well then!

Steady I go!

HERE WE GO AGAIN

WILBUR I MEAN WILBEN, HEY CAN YOU STAND UP, SAY "I AM AN ASS****, AND THERES NO HOPE FOR ME?"

amen!!!

RE: syncopated sneeze

I sneaked in a little Divine Guidance once at an outdoor family gathering. I cut loose with the most terrible sounding, long winded, low bellow of a fart that you ever heard in your life. Several people there exclaimed, "OH.....MY.....GOD!"

"Old Age Is Not For Sissies"

the basics

We are intitled to beleive in what we beleive in! Pi$$ rants will never convince the opposing side, it's a human factor that at times creates wars!

ALL THAT FROM ONE LITTLE WORD ...HERES A FUNNY

A FOUR YEAR OLD WAS LEARNING HOW TO SAY THE LORDS PRAYER: SHE WAS RECITING IT ALL BY HERSELF WITHOUT HELP FROM HER MOTHER.

SHE SAID “AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US SOME E-MAIL”***************AMEN***********

Yeah, see what ya started SANURA!

That's all it takes around here sometimes. ONE LITTLE WORD! We turn it upside down, inside out, backwards and forwards. In the end it all boils down to "deliver us some e-mail....Amen"

Boy...that's a classic.

4 yr olds...no wonder we love em' so much. (too bad they can't comment here!)

"Old Age Is Not For Sissies"

re: 4 yr olds

what do you mean .. i post all the time here. on the whole topic of what is appropriate in my opinion .. individual expressions of faith are fine and just that ..personal .. government specific endorsements of faith violate the line in my opinion ..and on that same topic if churches are going to engage in politics ie:endorsing specific parties and take government money for engaging in what used to be called charity rather than a way to divert my taxes into their pocket then at the least i expect a whole lot more transparency and oversight at a minimum and revocation of tax free status as an option. Bless you all ..clovis
