Its time
Submitted by cLovis on Thu, 2008-04-10 23:23.for John Murtha /democrat to go . I was pleasantly surprised when he said it was time to get out of Iraq . His support and constant draining of earmarks however make him another one of those blood suckers dining at the corporate table , while tax payers pay the tab. "More is on the way. In the massive 2008 military-spending bill now before Congress -- which could go to a House-Senate conference as soon as Thursday -- Mr. Murtha has steered more taxpayer funds to his congressional district than any other member. The Democratic lawmaker is chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, which will oversee more than $459 billion in military spending this year"
I have always said
Submitted by cLovis on Sun, 2008-04-06 17:50.the primary thing we have to worry about in this country is not left vs right , but the power of the corporation in "our " government. The biggest dangers of a supreme court is not the danger of roe vs wade being overturned ,but a supreme court totally on the side of big buisiness against the individual. Another brick in that wall with the way this court under john roberts is proceeding. Corporations always right , the individuals protections , not so much .To quote george orwell in animal farm " The 7 Commandments are abridged for the last time, simply reading, "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others." the state(government) run and controlled by corporate power is the definition of fascism according to Mussolinni, the founder of fascism .

obamas speech
Submitted by cLovis on Tue, 2008-03-18 22:00.As good a speech as I have heard covering the racial divide .Barrack obama is as good an orator as anyone in modern history, including FDR and JFK , the test is whether it translates into measurable action . Irregardless, this speech makes me proud I voted for him ,win, lose or draw. There is not another candidate out there would have made this speech even if they could have . Mccain and Hillary would have huddled with their advisors read a few polls and hoped it all dies away like Mcain with the rev Hagee(google john Hagee and Mccain if interested),who calls the catholic church "the great whore " and equates it with hitler. links here for obama, worth listening to even if you dont agree , or reading if you like the actual transcript.click here
How the mighty have fallen
Submitted by cLovis on Sun, 2008-03-16 21:32.Elliot Spitzer , the nemesis of Wall street , rising democratic star , governor of NY, sex scandals and politicians seem to be nearly as old s the the oldest profession, it still amazes me .
"It was, in many ways, a Jimmy Swaggart moment for New York State: the sloppy fall of a man known for his uprightness, his starched shirts (white shirts every day), and the vigorous adjectives he reserved for those deemed less righteous (as the Wall Street giant — and perennial Spitzer adversary — Ken Langone noted in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, the governor called him "unsavory", "deceptive" and "tainted"). No honour among Thieves
Submitted by cLovis on Sun, 2008-03-16 21:28.The former treasurer for the National Republican Congressional Committee diverted hundreds of thousands of dollars -- and possibly as much as $1 million -- of the organization's funds into his personal accounts, GOP officials said yesterday, describing an alleged scheme that could become one of the largest political frauds in recent history. click here
The future of the Republican party
Submitted by cLovis on Thu, 2008-02-28 00:51.If the republican party is going to survive, its candidates and stories like this one.It can flat out no longer be the grand old white party . Tell Me a republican elected official of color on the national level ? just one on the national level. Its not the only issue to vote on but we are increasingly a country of colour, many colors. Good thing , bad thing , doesnt matter your perspective ,its what is, and you "people" (you know the term I am fond of for general statements"f") need to deal with it . Now as for me I am for what I percieve as works . This guy works , he will be a national figure for republicans if he choses, of course J.C Watts from okla. was too and the republican party cut him off at the knees.
The little things
Submitted by cLovis on Sat, 2008-02-23 16:18.post debate here in Austin(virtual draw ,she needed a knock out) . First off a Dallas motor cycle police officer was killed while guiding the Clinton campaign motorcade . Its happened before in Hawaii ,to the Bush motorcade.Clinton issued a press statement expressing her condolences.,classy move and sincere. . I went to the Obama rally last night at the capitol , 30,000 and change according to fox news , . I have heard all the lines on you tube and being the political junkie I am was no new ground for me .(2) Obama had a moment of silence for the same officer , mentioned him by name ,obama mentioned how grateful he was for his police protection and the fact that he had been part of his detail in dallas as well. sweet moment, powerful, not much consolation for the family , but real. the other thing I noticed at the rally was the sheer number of people under 25, good for Obama and good for our political process if they get involved. Hillary after wisconsin is a dead man walking. Here in texas I predict the stake will be driven into the heart of her campaign. Good campaign ,she has been good opposition for obama ,made him a stronger candiate, voters owe her for making Obama a stronger candidate , but they dont owe her the nomination . It dies here in Texas. I could never have figured Texas would be of relevance to the Democratic nomination, interesting times. If Obama wins here it will be because he has taken it ,its not a gimmee even at this point .
Obama is not JFK
Submitted by cLovis on Mon, 2008-02-18 23:58.for one thing, JFK was white and catholic but Caroline Kennedy (JFK's daughter) still likes obama and says He is inspiring. He doesnt have to be JFK literally .Carolyn has always been the quiet one ,keeping her own council
A President Like My Father
by Caroline Kennedy
Over the years, I’ve been deeply moved by the people who’ve told me they wished they could feel inspired and hopeful about America the way people did when my father was president. This sense is even more profound today. That is why I am supporting a presidential candidate in the Democratic primaries, Barack Obama.
Democratic endorsements
Submitted by cLovis on Tue, 2008-01-29 22:26.I only have one caveat I won't support hillary clinton in the primaries in Texas or elsewhere . It has nothing to do with her being a woman and everything to do with her being a part of a political machine,a corporte one . Molly Ivins said it best for me ,before her untimely death. "I'd like to make it clear to the people who run the Democratic Party that I will not support Hillary Clinton for president.

Cold Weather Hits Ahmadinejad's Politics
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - President Bush isn't the only leader facing serious economic woes. Icy weather is causing big political trouble for Iran's hard-line president, who is under attack for mismanaging the economy as the country runs perilously low on gas for heat.

Texas justice
Submitted by cLovis on Fri, 2008-01-18 20:59.only in texas reddest of the red states would a DA empanel a grand jury of members of the community and then decide you know what "the people are wrong" this one tickled me the only reason its an issue.. the accused is a member of the supreme court ..appointed by Mr good hair Perry our governor . in fact you republicans should be grateful he is talking national office you too can have our second stringers after the success of the first string . .it embodies the hypocricy of the republican party in texas ..and before you know.. you think oh that clovis he is so silly .. texas republican first stringers have been in washington for at least 8 years ... wow what a roaring success(bush ,rove etc.) ..and the second string ,,why taking care of Texas (cough) we are rennovating the governors mansion and paying nearly 11 grand a month for a place for Mr perry to stay..asked why he couldnt stay in a trailer like Mr. huckabee did .. Mr perry replied "this isn't Arkansas " and indeed its not .. Arkansas ranks above Texas in education , number of children insured, but Texas does have the higher numbers on uninsured, percentages of teen pregnancies, etc. God bless Texasclick here
